Ready to break through your self-imposed limitations? This episode delivers a masterclass in thinking bigger than you ever thought possible.

DJ Mikey D and the remarkable DJ Dee Marie dive deep into the transformative power of ambitious thinking, revealing how one simple mindset shift changed everything. "Stop asking 'Can I do this?' and start asking 'Why not me?'" DJ Dee Marie explains, sharing her journey from bedroom DJ to radio personality through this powerful perspective change.

The conversation explores the concept of BHAGs (Big, Hairy, Audacious Goals) and how setting seemingly unreasonable targets actually creates extraordinary resilience. When your vision is sufficiently grand, daily setbacks become mere stepping stones rather than roadblocks. As DJ Dee Marie puts it, "Failure is just data" – valuable information that helps refine your approach, not a reason to quit.

But thinking big isn't just about confidence; it's about strategy. Learn why visualizing the process, not just the outcome, makes ambitious goals achievable. Discover practical techniques for handling the fear voice that never completely disappears (even for successful people), and why speaking your goals aloud creates powerful accountability.

The episode transitions into exploring mindfulness, cognitive restructuring, gratitude practices, and affirmations as tools to shift from negative to positive thinking. These evidence-based approaches can rewire your brain for optimism while improving both mental and physical health.

Remember, "the world is already full of small ideas." Your biggest limit is your imagination. Are you ready to think bigger? Visit https://greatdayradiopodcast.com to share your thoughts or support our show through sponsorships and donations.

Speaker 2:

Hey everyone, welcome to Great Day Radio's motivational podcast. For this episode we are going to be discussing Thinking Big the mindset for extraordinary success. I'm DJ Mikey D, and with me is the incredible DJ D Marie in the house.

Speaker 3:

Thanks for having me, Mikey. I'm excited to dive into this topic. Thinking Big is literally how I went from bedroom DJ to leading discussions on relationships.

Speaker 2:

That's exactly what we're talking about today. So many people get stuck in small thinking, setting safe, achievable goals, but you, dj D, you're the epitome of thinking big. How did that mindset shift happen for you?

Speaker 3:

Honestly, it started when I stopped asking can I do this? And started asking why not me? Like someone's got a headline Coachella, why not me?

Speaker 2:

Love that energy and look at you now, living proof.

Speaker 3:

Exactly. But here's the thing Big thinking isn't just about confidence, it's about strategy. I treated my career like a BHAG, a Big, hairy Audacious Goal, before I even knew what that term meant.

Speaker 2:

For our listeners who might not know, bhags come from Jim Collins' book Built to Last. They're those 10 to 30-year moonshot goals that seem crazy at first, like, say, going from bedroom DJ to hanging out with the likes of the late Ozzy Osbourne. Now that's cool.

Speaker 3:

Bingo. By the way, I listened to that out with the likes of the late Ozzy Osbourne. Now that's cool Bingo. By the way, I listened to that podcast about the late great Ozzy tribute that is lit. So here's the wild part. Once I committed to that BHAG, the small obstacles stopped mattering. A bad gig, just a step. Haters, background noise, the goal was so big it made the bumps feel tiny.

Speaker 2:

That's the resilience piece. Right there, research shows big thinkers bounce back faster because the vision outweighs the setbacks. But let's get real. How do you handle the fear, the what if I fail? Voice?

Speaker 3:

Oh man, I still get that voice. But now I talk back. What if you don't try? That fear is way scarier. Plus, failure is just data. My first radio gig flopped, but it taught me how to convey my messages with much more confidence.

Speaker 2:

Turning failure into fuel. That's the growth mindset in action 100%.

Speaker 3:

And here's a pro tip Visualize the process, not just the outcome. I didn't just see myself on a radio station, I saw the daily grind to get there. That's how you make big thinking actionable.

Speaker 2:

That's a mic drop moment right there. So for our listeners ready to think bigger, what is your first step?

Speaker 3:

challenge Ask yourself what's my version of leading my first radio show. Then and this is key say it out loud, speak it into existence. I told everyone I'd be on air before I reached 20 years old.

Speaker 2:

Accountability meets audacity. Dj D, you're a force. Any final words for the big thinkers tuning in?

Speaker 3:

The world's already full of small ideas. Be the one who dreams loud, and Mikey. Next time let's get on the big podcast shows like iHeartRadio.

Speaker 3:

We've got a really important topic to dive into, don't we?

Speaker 2:

Absolutely, dj D. Today we're talking about how negative thinking can seriously affect our mental and physical health. It's something a lot of us struggle with right.

Speaker 3:

Oh, for sure, I mean. We've all been there, stuck in that loop of negative thoughts that just drag us down. But the good news is we can shift that mindset.

Speaker 2:

Exactly. Research shows that moving toward positivity can boost happiness, resilience and overall well-being. But how do we actually do that?

Speaker 3:

Well, one powerful technique is mindfulness. It's all about being present and aware of our thoughts without judging them.

Speaker 2:

Mindfulness is huge. And then there's cognitive restructuring fancy term for challenging and changing those negative thoughts.

Speaker 3:

Right, like when you catch yourself thinking I'm terrible at this. You pause and ask is that really true?

Speaker 2:

Bingo and another game changer. Gratitude practice Taking time each day to acknowledge what you're thankful for can rewire your brain for optimism.

Speaker 3:

I love that Even small things like a good cup of coffee or a sunny day can shift your perspective. Like a good cup of coffee or a sunny day can shift your perspective.

Speaker 2:

Totally. And let's not forget affirmations Repeating positive statements about yourself can build self-esteem over time.

Speaker 3:

Yes, but here's the thing it's not an overnight fix, it's a gradual process, right?

Speaker 2:

Absolutely. Consistency is key. You've got to put in the effort, but the payoff is huge. Better emotional health stronger relationships and just a more fulfilling life. So true, and it's not about ignoring the negative stuff, it's about balancing it with constructive thoughts. Exactly.

Speaker 3:

It's like spinning a record You've got to find the right groove to keep the music flowing smoothly. Love that analogy, Mikey.
